3 Cybersecurity Threats Healthcare Organizations Need to Watch Out for in 2019

There are a lot of threats lurking around the healthcare sector this year.

Phishing is alive!

While it may seem like phishing is an outdated mode of hacking, the truth is that it’s alive and well — and a very real threat to the healthcare industry.

In a survey from HIMSS that came out last year 62 percent of respondents pointed to email as a point of compromise, a fact that isn’t likely to change anytime soon.

Crypto mining grows in popularity among hackers

There are always new threats to replace the old ones. Over the past years a lot of time and effort has gone into combating the rise of ransomware. Now, that threat is in decline and a new threat is emerging: cryptojacking.

Cryptojacking is the unauthorized use of a computer or any connected device by cybercriminals to mine for cryptocurrency. Instead of building a dedicated crypto mining computer, hackers use cryptojacking to steal computing resources from their victims’ devices.

Terrible terrible passwords!

SplashData evaluated more than 5 million passwords leaked on the Internet and found that users continue using the same predictable, easily guessable passwords.

“123456” and “password” continue in the #1 and #2 spots making it easy for hackers to break into systems and even steal identities.

With the use of statistical analysis and machine learning, Hmatix is able to defend against the old and the new threats to protect your network autonomously. Once every device is isolated it becomes almost impossible to get into the network.
